For New York City residents (Queens County, Richmond County, Kings County, Manhattan County), it is recommended to apply for “Business Carry” as this is an unrestricted license. You can put N/A where the application is requesting business information.
With regards to the application requesting a question requiring proper cause, it is recommended to put the following:
“As per the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA) v. Bruen (2022) decision it is no longer required to show proper cause.”
Note, the application process will require your driver’s lifetime abstract, which is available through your local DMV portal.
For non-residence, it is recommended to apply for “Special Carry.”
